About me
An economist who writes code, a data engineer who understands the business
I'm Rubén Solano, from Málaga. I have worked with data, Python and artificial intelligence since 2020.

Background
I studied Economics at the University of Málaga (2025) and I am currently doing the MSc in Economic and Business Analysis there. Economics left me with the habit of quantifying: knowing what is gained, what is risked and what is assumed before building anything.
Since 2020 I have worked as a freelancer in Python, data analysis, machine learning, computer vision and automation. I have completed 11 Upwork contracts with several 5-star reviews. Work includes image segmentation for machine learning, playing-card recognition, marketing analytics, predictive models and improvements to analytical code for a Swiss investment fund.
In 2025 I worked in treasury operations at Caja Rural de Granada (reconciliation, SEPA, FX, KYC/AML and fraud prevention). In 2026 I worked at Ebury, in the Financial Crime team, doing analytics engineering with SQL, dbt and BigQuery. That mix of banking, risk and data is why I care about traceability, validation and documentation.
How I work
01
Problem before tool
I start from the process and the data. Sometimes the answer is a well-automated spreadsheet, not a model.
02
Small, verifiable deliveries
Usable versions early, with data validation and agreed success criteria.
03
Transparency
I tell you what works, what doesn't and what the risks are. I don't promise what I can't measure.
04
Everything documented
Code, decisions and operations are written down so you can maintain them without depending on me.
